Vladimir Lande, oboe

Vladimir Lande was born in St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia. He graduated from the St. Petersburg (Leningrad) Conservatory of Music with Degrees in both Oboe and Piano. After winning several prestigious prizes and awards, he became the Principal Oboist with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Lande went on tour with the orchestra to most European and Asian countries. He recorded all of Brahms' Symphonies as well as Symphonies by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Schubert, and Shostakovich with the orchestra. Mr. Lande worked under the baton of such conductors as Evgeny Mravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, Claudio Abbado, Valery Gergiev, and Yuri Timerkanov.

Since moving to the United States in 1989, Vladimir Lande has worked as the Principal Oboist and soloist with such orchestras and ensembles as Baltimore Opera, Concert Artists of Baltimore, and Bachanalia Festival Chamber Orchestra. He has also been associated with the Baltimore Symphony, Delaware Symphony, and Richmond Symphony Orchestra.

In 1993, Vladimir Lande became part of the critically acclaimed D'Amore Duo with the guitarist William Feasley. Mr. Lande's performing career has taken him on tour to England, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, and throughout the United States.

Vladimir Lande is an Artist in Residence at the St. Mary's College of Maryland. He serves on the faculty of the American University in Washington DC, and the Washington Conservatory of Music.
